Naps time for my 6 1/2 month

by Becky

Hi,

My daughter has been a fabulous napper and sleeper until now. She just started crawling or scooting around and seems to not want to go down for nap time or only naps for about 1/2 hour each nap.

My schedule is up for 2 hours, then down for naps up to 3 naps a day and down for bed between 6-7:30 and wakes about 6am. Also, when i put her down in her crib now, she cries- not hard, but cries and sits up. I usually lay her on her stomach and put in paci and then rub her back and shhhhhh her in her ear and put on the sound machine in the dark. Worked like a charm until now.

She just started solids a week ago and I feed her rice cereal at night along with her daily intake of milk. How do I get her to nap again? Do I let her sit in her crib and cry it out? Use the Ferber method and go in and soothe her every 5 minutes? how long does she need to nap total at this age? THANK YOU!!! Becky

Time for an Adjustment?
by: Heather ;-)

Becky,

A non-napping baby is miserable for everyone! Sleeping adjustments always throw me off.

I suspect that perhaps your baby is telling you that it's time to go down to 2 naps a day. I'm guessing that if you dropped the middle nap, kept the morning and late afternoon nap, she'd be so exhausted she's sleep a good couple hours for you.

Give that a try, and let us know if it doesn't work so we can try something else! (There's always a solution...it's just a matter of finding it!)

much care,
Heather
