Could Scar tissue heal over the stitches?!

by Clara
(Oak Harbor, Wa)

So at my appointment my stitches were not removed because my doctor said they would come out on their own. Well, here it is 8 weeks later and my scar (which is completely healed over) feels like the stitches are still in there!!! Is this raised line normal? Should it feel like a string in there? Or is it just how the scar tissue heals?

The scar still hurts a little bit especially on the ends, its not excruciating just annoying...but is it possible that the stitches never came out and scar healed OVER them closing the stitches in?

Time for another appointment!
by: Heather ;-)

Clara,

Based on what you've described, I think another visit to your OBGYN (or a new one) may be in order.

Some of the symptoms you described may be normal, but at 8 weeks I would think things should be a little further along.

My advice is to make an appointment with your OBGYN, or a new OBGYN for a second opinion. If it doesn't seem normal to you, that's a good reason to check it out!

I hate that I can't be more specific, but that's the best advice I can offer right now.

Hope it was helpful,
Heather
