Bruised Gum

My baby was chewing on a plastic toy over 2 weeks ago and he cut his gum and bled a little. Ever since then, there is a "blood blister" like bruise on his gum in that spot. He has four teeth already, I know he's teething, but this bruise is concerning me! Any suggestions, advice?

Thanks!

Keep an eye on it

Dear friend,

I would watch it at this point. If it seems tender, and he seems like it hurts, or if you start seeing evidence of pus or an infection, call your doctor.

On the other hand, since it's been 2 weeks, you may wish to call your doctor and verbally let him/her that it is there. Chances are, he's going to tell you to watch it for a few days, but then again, he may ask to see him in person.

with care,
Heather
