Blinking, Fever, and Flu

by Doll
(JHB - South Africa)

My baby is 15 months old and she has started blinking constantly, it makes me worried because it started now after having a runny tummy, fever and flu at the same time. What could cause the blinking?

Do I keep her warm? or take her clothes off and cool her down?

Worried,
Doll

Dehydration and Fever
by: Heather ;-)

The blinking could be caused by dehydration. If she's had diarrhea or vomiting, you should make sure she's had a wet diaper in the past 4 hours. If not, call your doctor. Dehydration is a serious issue - and one of the leading causes of baby/child hospitalization.

Any fever over 100 degrees (F) should be reported to your doctor. Infant Tylenol or Infant ibuprofen can be given (follow dosage instructions) to help bring the fever down.

If her fever is really high (over 101 degrees F), placing in her a lukewarm bath may also help bring the temperature down.

Feel free to comment if you have more questions, regardless, I would contact your doctor so he's aware your baby is ill and can give you additional instructions or schedule an appointment.

with care,
Heather
