Tea Time with Danielle

A Mentor for New Moms

time

A Cuppa Tea

A devoted tea-drinker, Danielle not only makes a great cup of tea (and this from a coffee drinker), she is the kind of woman you want to have tea with. She's warm, compassionate, knowledgeable, and can provide the gentle nudge you need to pull through on things you didn't think you could actually do.

In other words, she's inspiring. And exactly what we needed on EiR to provide a gentle ear and a knowledgable mouth for new mothers.

Having had the privelidge of several "Tea Times with Danielle," I thought it was high time we brought our tea table into the virtual world for some candid talks about babies and motherhood. So there's my two-cents...

Are you a New Mom with a Question?

Where I'm From...

I was born in Michigan and have spent most of my life living near "The Lake". Some people get attached to the mountains or the ocean, but for me it's always been Lake Michigan! There's something about this large-yet-small body of water that suits me perfectly.

Who I Am...

As the second of eight children (I know, my Mom's amazing), Ive had lots of experience with young children. Even so, I admit I had many questions during my son's first year of life. I've used the EiR as a valuable resource over the past few years and am thrilled to be a part of the writing team.

My husband Jason and I have a son 16 months old and a newborn baby girl born in October. As I'm sure you know, being a mom is an amazing experience. I never quite understood how much my life would change and how my love would undescribably expand until after my son was born.

Jason works at a local university and designs web pages for individuals, corporations, and charities. You can see his design site here. Besides being a full-time mom and wife, I give piano and voice lessons out of my home. Music is a passion I love to indulge in!

(Heather's edit here... Danielle truly does have a magnificent voice! We may have to upload some lullabyes or something...) smiley

What I Love About Motherhood...

I love the look on my sons face when I come to get him out of bed in the morning. I love rediscovering the world through his eyes. I love the fact that I can talk out loud to myself in the store and people dont think Im crazy as long as my son is in tow.

What is "Tea Time with Danielle" About?

I chose the theme of "tea", because I want to meet new mothers in an environment that's comfortable. I can think of few things as comfortable as talking over a steaming cup of tea. (Although Heather would argue that it's a steaming latte!)

The idea of "tea time" is a cherished ideal we all long for in those hectic and crazy first few weeks of motherhood.

So if you are a new mom, let me invite you to pull up a chair, grab a scone and let me pour you a cup of hot tea as we discuss the various joys, sorrows, questions and concerns you may have about your new role: that of mother.

Always with much care,

sig
