The Diaper Champ: Awesome or Awful?
The Baby Trend Diaper Champ has been touted as a mom's salvation for easy disposal of nasty diapers.
But does it deserve the title of "Best in Show" for diaper pails? How do you think it measures up?
What Are the Benefits?
The Diaper Champ offers two big blessings for moms.
First of all, it uses regular trash bags. This is good news for those stretching a budget. No additional bag costs.
There is little chance you'll run out of trash bags, since you can use any bag in the house.
Secondly, it's really easy to use. Just flip the handle over and you're done. No complex pushing and turning.
No "required reading" of a Master's level owner's manual. Simple design for simple use.
What Are the Disappointments?

If your baby is near his first birthday, you will need to empty it every other day to maintain a smell-free environment.
The longer you use it, the wider the gap between the turning handle and sides become, making it less air-tight.
Expect to have to purchase a new one after 3 years.
Since the handle design is so easy, older toddlers could figure out how to flip the handle. Keep a sharp eye on your baby-toddler to avoid "fishing for toys".

How Much Does it Cost?
You can purchase a brand new pink Champ
or a brand new blue Champ
for $40.
Occasionally you can also find them used on Ebay. However, as I stated above, the older the diaper pail, the more
the joints will expand and allow unpleasant odors to escape, so buyer beware.
Trash bags will be extra (I always choose scented for
another boost in odor prevention). You could also include the occasional diaper pail deodorizer.
Do You Have a Diaper Champ?
Share your thoughts about the Diaper Champ with other mothers. Is a must? or a bust?
Choosing a good diaper pail is a tricky thing. You want something clean, efficient, cost-effective, and most importantly
odorless.
The Baby Trend Diaper Champ seems to have all these qualities. Of course, you shouldn't take my word for it. Consider
these reviews made by other moms to get a full (and honest) picture.
