Which print is best for casting on your baby?

  • As a rule, it is best to do handprints on newborns (0-3 months) and children over 2.
  • Babies between 3-24 months are best making footprints. If your baby is old enough to try to grasp the plaster (and ruin the print) and too young to understand directions, try a footprint instead.
  • An exception to this rule: capture the print while your little one is drowsy or sleepy.

It is also best to have two adults making the print. One to hold the squirmy baby, one to direct the print.

Making a baby hand andfootprint of your little one is a tiny way to do just that. When I made my first baby imprint of my 2-year-old...I was excited. But when that same print was found broken in pieces in her memory box...I was shattered.
