Transform Your Annual
Ho-Hum Family Letter with
a Baby Christmas Costume

There's one way to ensure your Christmas card this year is treasured forever. Slap little junior (or juniorette) in a baby Christmas costume.

It's unexpected. It's adorable. A crowd-pleaser for everyone. (Except maybe the occasional Scrooge.)

Besides, this is the year to do it. Your infant is helpless to fight against any forced costuming.

Now's the time to torture them with adorable outfits you can immortalize with Christmas cards sprinkled all around the world. They'll thank you later. (Maybe)

Don't squander this perfect opportunity! Here are some of the cutest baby Christmas costumes you've ever seen.

For the Craft-Happy Mama

If working a sewing machine is one of your talents (I applaud you, btw), you could also make a baby Christmas costume from scratch with some Hobby Lobby fabric and a good pattern.

In this Simplicity Sewing Pattern, for example, you can make a pumpkin, bumble-bee or dalmation for Halloween, a Santa for Christmas, and a bunny for Easter just by mixing up the fabric and adding a few tweaks (Santa doesn't have bunny ears...)

Tips to Spruce Up Your Family Letter

Besides including your precious babe in a baby Christmas costume, here are some other ideas to make your yearly card worth saving:

  • Besides the usual "what's been going on", add a short list of books your family enjoyed this year, movies you loved, and music you've downloaded.
  • Design the letter to look like a newspaper, with columns and short paragraphs. Make it scan-happy.
  • Don't be afraid to share the downs as well as the ups. Obviously, you don't want to air ALL your dirty laundry, but simple phrases like "after a challenging Spring we..." or "John lost his job, like many others, in May" and follow it with a positive lesson learned, or hope. Nobody wants to read bragging letters of self-declared perfect people. If you're going to take the time to write it, make sure it's worth reading.
